Shakarpara Recipe
Shakkarpara is an ideal sweet, as not only does it taste fantastic but it is easy to make and can be stored for a long time. One can find it in most Indian homes eaten as a tea time snack. However, around the festive time, especially during Diwali they are prepared in large quantities and distributed among close relatives and family friends. This terrific sweet is quite famous in the northern India and is known as Shakkarpara or Shakkarpare, whereas in the western region it is referred to as Shankarpali. When made properly the Shakkarpara is a wonderful blend of various textures, crisp and crunchy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside. So this Diwali try your hand at making this delicious sweet, with the help of easy to make recipe given below.
Ingredients:
- 3 cup Maida (plain flour)
- 2 cup Wheat flour
- 2 cup Sugar
- 2 tsp Saunf
- 2 cup Ghee
- Ghee for frying
Preparation:
- Take a large bowl and mix all the above mentioned ingredients in it and add a little water into it.
- Knead the mixture into soft dough.
- Then, divide the dough into equal parts and roll out into thick chapatis.
- Next cutout small diamond shapes from the chapatis with the help of a knife.
- Lift these with a spatula and keep aside on a dry cloth for an hour or so.
- Then deep fry the cut pieces in hot ghee, over medium heat till, they turn light golden brown.
- Drain well and keep aside for cooling.
- Your shakkarpare are ready, now you can store them in clean, dry containers and serve when required.
